  • Can my middle school son come to camp?  Yes, the camp is open to boys grades 7-12
  • My son is going to be at Olentangy High School, can he still come to camp?  Yes, the camp is open to all boys interested in Volleyball – regardless of which school they will be attending.
  • Does my son need to bring anything special?  He just needs to have gym shoes, shorts and a t-shirt, and a water bottle.

Coaches:

Hale picCoach Dave Hale has been the Head Boys Volleyball coach at Liberty since 2007. The team was Regional Champions in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. In 2009, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024 Hale was named OCC Coach of the Year. He was Division I Regional Coach of the year in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2022, 2023 and 2024. He was named State Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2024. In 2006, Coach Hale was an Assistant Boys Volleyball coach at Valley Center High School, in San Diego, for a team that won the state title. In 2023, the Liberty Boys team were state runners-up.

Coach Hale is a 1993 graduate of Utica High School, and a 1997 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, majoring in Math. Hale played basketball at OWU all 4 years and was a captain his senior year. He completed his Masters of Education in Instructional Technology from Ashland University in 2004.

Coach Hale also coached basketball at the high school level for 15 years. Hale started his coaching career at Olentangy High School as JV Girls basketball coach and after 3 years became the Head Girls basketball coach at Olentangy. He remained at this position for 3 years until opening Liberty High School as the Head Girls basketball coach. Hale was named District 11 Coach of the Year the first year at Liberty. Two years later, Coach Hale took a Varsity Assistant Boys basketball coach position at Valley Center High School, in San Diego. Hale moved back to Ohio and was an assistant for the boys program at Liberty for 3 years, before coaching as Varsity Assistant for Delaware Boys basketball for 1 year. He then was the Head Boys basketball coach at Jerome for 3 years.

Coach Hale and his wife, Jaime, reside in Powell with their daughters, Emily and Sophie.


Katherine Fogg has been coaching for over 20 years. She has coached varsity high school girls and boys volleyball for over 15 years. She started and played volleyball all 4 years while at Ashland University. Throughout college she coached club volleyball teams of various ages. She resides in Powell with her husband and 4 children.


Deryll Rohda has been coaching volleyball for Olentangy for over 20 years. He is the Assistant coach for the boys’ and girls’ programs at Liberty High School.

Coach Rohda graduated from Napoleon High School and graduated from Defiance College majoring in Physical Education and Health. While at Defiance, he was a 3 -time wrestling All American and Athlete of the Year recipient three times. He continued his education at Miami University to attain his Masters in Education. He is in the Napoleon Hall of Fame, Defiance Hall of Fame and Olentangy High School Hall of Fame.

Coach Rohda has coached football, cross country, wrestling and track while teaching Physical Education and Health for the Olentangy Local School District where he retired in 2013. He is currently teaching at Columbus Briggs High School.

Coach Rohda and his wife, Noreen, live in Powell and have two children Claire and Max.
